Happy Vegan Bakers

A VEGAN VERSION OF HISPANIC SOUL FOOD

About Happy Vegan Bakers

In 2014 two Miami girls  started a great adventure, inspired by hunger & the desire to eat delicious goodies, in a compassionate way.

Making cakes, cupcakes, brownies & other sweets that they first sold to friends & family

They missed eating the foods they grew up with, and believed other vegans felt the same way. So they got into the kitchen and reinvented the vegan versions of all our favorite comfort foods including Pastelitos & empanadas!!!

With the help of El Tejadito’s staff, & their Fans; they started to grow, & fast. People started reaching out from all over; excited as us to see the foods they too, missed so much.

In this last year the demand of people trying to get their hands on their products, led them to look for other options to reach more vegans.

They started distributing Pastelitos to other vegan/vegan friendly locations around south Florida.

With the growth of their following, Happy vegan bakers had officially outgrown separate space in El Tejadito’s kitchen and more than ever we were pressed with time to find our own vegan spot.

After years of hard work & searching, we finally found the perfect place, made the leap of faith, & bought their own location!

Happy Vegan Bakers now offers a full lunch menu as well as brunch alongside their famous empanadas, pastelitos and baked goods. Check them out for some good old fashion Hispanic flavors with a new vegan twist!

Drastix

A COZY FAMILY RUN RESTAURANT IN DOWNTOWN HOLLYWOOD FLORIDA WHERE THE MENU ISNT THE ONLY THING YOU CAN PERUSE

About Drastix Street Eats

Drastix is a cozy family-run restaurant in Downtown Hollywood, Florida where the menu isn't the only interesting thing you can peruse. Nothing brings people together like good food and interesting art…so they decided to merge the two. As soon as you walk in, the art hits you - from colorful art tables you can eat on, to an art exhibit on the walls that changes every month. Their goal is to support local artists in any way possible. Now, back to the food! they specialize in skewers (Stix), hand-crafted sauces, savory bowls, delicious appetizers and heavenly desserts. Whether you’re a die-hard carnivore or healthy vegetarian or vegan, we promise there is something on their menu that will satisfy your cravings.

Victor Choy is the co-owner of Drastix his partner in this venture is Chef Martin Moncrieffe, a seasoned veteran of the culinary world with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He not only brings professional qualifications to their kitchen, but a unique island flavor that is evident in their cuisine. Victors background in branding and marketing and his skills in the kitchen made for the perfect partnership. Their agreement is Victor brings them in and Chef Martin makes sure they come back.

The idea of Drastix was born in 2014 when they decided to team up and create a business plan for a food truck. As they looked for food items that could be easily had while walking around, skewers (our Stix) made the most sense. And the name comes from Drastically Delicious Stix - DRASTIX.

They say “timing is everything” and at that moment their timing just wasn’t right. Fast forward to 2020 during a global pandemic that put them both in tough career situation, they decided to resurrect this project. But this time as a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Being a Hollywood resident for over 10 years made my choice very easy. Victor knew the area, the community and the potential the city has. They are extremely happy being part of the Downtown Hollywood Community and look forward to making a positive impact in their neighborhood.

Garden Diva Hummus Food Truck

GARDEN DIVA FOOD TRUCK IS A BIT OF A VEGETARIAN/VEGAN OASIS

Cherie Mione is the owner of Garden Diva Hummus as well as Garden Diva Food Truck. For Cherie, hummus is very much so her passion and creating it for her customers brings her so much joy and happiness. Her inspiration for creating hummus came from her love of cooking.

Cherie has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years and her two favorite hobbies outside of her career are cooking and gardening. She enjoys trying new recipes and adding different ingredients to make them to her liking and vegan. Cherie took a vegan cooking class about 7 years ago and decided to go vegan, which really inspired her. She had been vegetarian since she was in her early twenties due to never caring for meat since her childhood. The cooking class Cherie took that day, changed her life! It made her eager to be even more creative in the kitchen.

Cherie had always loved hummus and would buy it at the grocery store. One day, she decided to try and create her own. Her favorite flavor of hummus was cilantro-jalapeno, so she started there. She was fortunate to have her son and his friends around to be her taste testers. She would take spoons of hummus to each of them and get their feedback. It was great having their input to perfect each flavor. Her family, friends and coworkers began asking to buy her hummus and over time it really encouraged her to sell it to the public. Her vision is to have her hummus sold worldwide. She wants to share the love and great taste of her hand-crafted hummus’s with everyone, everywhere.

Cherie now owns a food truck and offers a light Mediterranean menu along side her hummus creations! Keep an eye out on her social media channels to find out where she will be next.

Hemplade Vegan Café Juice Bar

THE FIRST HEMP VEGAN CAFÉ ON THE EAST COAST

ABOUT HEMPLADE VEGAN CAFÉ JUICE BAR

Hemplade Vegan Café began offering 100% plant-based foods and drinks with cannabidiol—CBD or hemp add-ons to Tallahassee residents. It is not just designed with vegans in mind, but also those who are just exploring healthier alternative options.

Yudah Weh is one of the owners of the Hemplade brand that started out as just a tea known as the Hemplade Tea. He now serves as the general manager of the Hemplade Vegan Café and has been working with his team for over a year to prepare for their first restaurant opening.

“The purpose of this café is healing and giving people a better source of nourishment. We have foods and teas that deal with human consumption such as detoxes and cleanses,” said Weh. “Our Hemplade Tea was actually the first hemp tea in Florida since 2012, health is what we specialize in.”

New York native, Tsahay Murray, currently attends Florida A&M University as a third year music industry major and has been vegan for the majority of her life. She says she doesn’t eat out much, but has heard about their hemp pizza and would love to try it.

“I like the fact that they are bringing more vegan options to the city, especially incorporating hemp because it has a lot of health benefits. I think it’s really cool we have these options,” said Murray.

The owners are already planning for the future in terms of adding more menu items, products and even creating events.

Currently in store they have products such as CBD trail mix for snacks and CBD roll-ons that can be used to treat headaches.

They plan to create engaging events to inform and entertain the public through health. One example that they have been deciding on is a “vegan thanksgiving” open to their customers to give back for the holidays.

James Jackson is a brand ambassador for the restaurant and has been vegan for about three years. Jackson’s father and Yudah Weh have been long-time friends and that’s how he became involved with the brand.

Jackson’s favorite menu items are the vegan soul bowl and the vegan mac and cheese.

“This restaurant is important to the community because it gives a new vibe with a variety of healthy new options that we didn’t really have before,” said Jackson.

Cali Restaurant Group

OUR RESTAURANTS ARE BOUND BY A PURPOSE - TO CREATE A MENU THAT IS BOTH NOURISHING TO OUR PEOPLE AND THE PLANET

Our family has been nourishing people with food and love for five generations. FRANCESCO LANZA arrived in Brooklyn with his young family in 1910. Chasing the sun and good food, he decided to take a trip to California where he saw beautiful terrain that reminded him of back home Italy. That planted the seed of a new dream and Francesco moved his family from Brooklyn to San Francisco to grow olives and produce olive oil. He went on to become the owner of the first restaurant on San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf.

Once prohibition ended, Francesco’s son, JAMES LANZA founded Lanza Wine and became one of the first people in the U.S. to hold a trademark for wine. He went on to have a fantastic career selling vino.

James’ son FRANK CICCIO LANZA, picked olives as a teen. Working in the family business taught him lessons about hard work and humility that later allowed him to excel in corporate America. He became a Fortune 500 CEO. His leadership took the companies, charities and people he touched from good to great. He improved the lives of many less fortunate than himself through his philanthropy.

Frank’s son, JAMES LANZA JR., founded the original Ciccio’s in New York. When James was in his early twenties working a boring desk job in the Empire State Building, he got a call about a half-finished restaurant that was for sale on the Upper West Side, Manhattan from his brother Louie. They decided to follow in the forefather’s footsteps and go into the restaurant business. An accountant by trade, James had no idea what he was doing but was driven by his love of food to make the business work. He realized early on he would need great partners to bring his vision to life.

James’ son, MATT LANZA, grew up in the business, eating great food and hanging around in the restaurants. Matt was eager to make a life for himself in the restaurant biz, so he helped open Cali St. Pete in 2005. By staying true to the family mission of nourishing people with food and love, we redefined success as profits with a purpose. Our profits are shared with our people, reinvested into sustainability initiatives and educating our community, and donated to local charities.
